Jim Chapman Impacts 50+ Housing

Jim ChapmanJim Chapman, president of Jim Chapman Communities, began developing active adult communities in 2005 and has been closely involved in 50+ housing ever since. Recently, Chapman shared his knowledge at an education session during the International Builder’s Show in Las Vegas called 50+ Builder’s Forum: Capturing Your Share of the Market.

During the session, Chapman explained what type of products appeal to today’s active adults. His company’s one-level all masonry ranch condominiums are award-winning and popular with buyers. Homes are beautifully designed, superbly functional and located in sought-after metro Atlanta areas including The Springs at Sterling on the Lake in Flowery Branch, Brookhaven at Sugarloaf in Duluth, Brookhaven of East Cobb in Kennesaw, Brookhaven at Johns Creek in Johns Creek and Brookhaven at Lanier Ridge in Cumming. Additionally, each community is maintenance free and complies with the Easy Living Home building specifications. Features include wider doorways, ample maneuvering space in baths and showers and zero-step entries.

Chapman also discussed how to make homes stand out, how to avoid common mistakes and how to effectively serve 50+ consumers, even if it means building one home at a time. Overall, attendees learned that large national builders do not own a monopoly on the 50+ marketplace and that small-scale builders can be successful too.

Besides speaking engagements, Chapman is serving his sixth term on the board of the Atlanta 50+ Housing Council of the Greater Atlanta Home Builder’s Association and is the past Chairman. Chapman’s most recent honor is his appointment to the Board of Trustees of the National Association of Home Builder’s 50+ Housing Council.
