Jim Chapman Community Earns Top Honors by National Active Retirement Association

Brookhaven at Johns Creek named best small active adult community in the nation

Brookhaven at Johns Creek, a Jim Chapman Communities neighborhood, received the Gold Award for best small active adult community during the National Active Retirement Association’s (NARA) annual conference in late October.

NARA is a fast-growing, ten-year-old business trade group for America’s top professionals involved in building for, marketing to and serving the “50 and beyond” age group.

“Although 2010 has been a challenging year, we have worked diligently to create a unique property that continues to outperform the general real estate market,” said Gail Laney, on-site agent at Brookhaven at Johns Creek. “

Judges cited the community’s location near country club-style amenities, access to area health care and interesting design features as the strengths of this 55+ age-restricted community, which earned it the designation as the premier small active adult community in the nation.

“Our judges were extremely impressed with our top winners in the retirement design/build category because of their focus on enriching the lifestyle of their residents,” said NARA Director Dan Owens. “For instance, Brookhaven [at Johns Creek] is a smaller 55+ property but residents there do have access to a lifestyle director who organizes activities and events.

Jim Chapman Communities Featured in Numerous Publications in October

During the month of October, Jim Chapman Communities (JCC) has received its fair share of press and for good reason. From the Atlanta Journal Constitution and Marietta Daily Journal to the Atlanta Business Chronicle and Johns Creek Herald, JCC has been front and center.

Offering incomparable active adult Atlanta real estate for those 55 and older, JCC has established itself as one of the premier active adult builders in the metro-Atlanta market. So, when the Atlanta Business Chronicle needed a quote about the status of the active adult real estate landscape in Atlanta, it turned to Kelly Dempsey, vice-president of sales and marketing director for JCC.

“The marketplace definitely ran away from new homes when foreclosed homes became sort of the trend where people could get a great value in a good location,” said Dempsey said in the article. “Those are beginning to diminish. The good locations and quality homes of today are beginning to diminish and people are coming back to builders to look for an opportunity to get that new home.”

So why has JCC become such a popular choice for active adults?

“In some cases, we have bought communities that have partially built homes; bank-owned properties,” Dempsey said. “We’re able to complete those homes and offer them for a value in an existing community between $70,000 and $120,000 below the existing pre-sale prices in those communities.”

JCC’s communities typically feature the builder’s signature two-and-three bedroom quad ranch condos as well as two- to four-bedroom single-family home floorplans. Bonus rooms with full baths, great rooms with fireplaces and kitchen upgrades are also available. Homes are mostly all-brick and stone construction with inviting front porches, vaulted ceilings and oversized master suites.
